Vintage Collectibles - Magazines - Competition Surf

One of only six issues ever published. According to Tim De La Vega, author of the Surfing Collectibles Guide, "This contest-oriented magazine may have been doomed simply by bad timing. With the advent of the shortboard revolution, contests were soon to be a thing of shame, not honor." As a result, this publication only survived six issues. East coast action includes some pretty solid hurricane surf in Florida and New Jersey. Also includes coverage of Fred Hemmings' victory in the 1966 Makaha Championships. Plus summer tubes in Maui and ding repair tips. This copy is in very good or Betty condition, at least 80 percent of mint. A couple minor stains on front cover, barely visible in scan. Overall very crisp and bright for its age. Complete and intact with no torn or missing pages and no cutouts. Packaged in an archival-quality clear plastic sleeve with an acid-free mat backing board.
