DUKE KAHANAMOKU SWIMMING CARD (1977)

This vintage Duke Kahanamoku sports card focused on his other water pursuit: swimming. The Duke invented the "crawl" and won gold medals in the 1912 and 1920 Olympic Games, winning silver in the 1924 Olympics behind Johnny "Tarzan" Weissmuller. Like his friend and rival, the Duke also had a successful career in film, often cast as a Hawaiian prince -- a role that came naturally! While this card makes no mention of the Duke's surfing prowess, the reverse side does contain many interesting facts about his success in competitive swimming. This collectible card is in excellent or near-mint condition, at least 90 percent of mint. Slight yellowing on reverse side. No creases, tack holes, tears, tape marks, or water damage. It measures approximately 4 3/4 inches wide by 6 1/2 inches tall. Packaged in an archival-quality clear plastic sleeve with an acid-free mat backing board. Click Here for a closer look.
