Ricky Grigg's story takes readers on a journey through the pioneer days of surfing on the North Shore, where Grigg was a standout at Waimea Bay and an innovator at Sunset Beach. In Big Surf, Deep Dives, and the Islands: My Life in the Ocean, Ricky Grigg chronicles his life as a waterman. Highlights include winning the Duke Kahanamoku Invitational surfing contest in 1967 and winning International Surfing Magazine's top big-wave surfer poll of 1968. Includes lots of classic photographs of the many legends from his colorful life -- both in and out of the water -- including Greg Noll, Mike Doyle, Joey Cabell, Duke, Eddie Aikau, and many, many more.
