SURFER MAGAZINE VOLUME 19, NO. 3 (1978)

Mark Richards defines happiness as "Sex and Tube Rides"...hard to argue with that! This one includes a notable, lengthy interview with M.R. during his prime, a mere 21 years old. Also includes 1978 Stubbies Classic coverage at Burleigh Heads, Peter Crawford's "A Day at Little Avalon," "France: A Vintage Year" by Kevin Naughton and Craig Peterson, "Focal Points," and "California Winter: After the Deluge" by Jim Kempton. Then take a trip with Mickey Munoz and Joey Cabell to Tahiti aboard a 43-foot catamaran. Finally, Bunky Bakutis gives a farewell tribute to Eddie Aikau in "A Hawaiian Waterman's Final Return to the Sea," Aikau, a legendary big-wave surfer at Sunset and Waimea, died at sea. He was last seen on March 16, 1978, paddling a 10-foot surfboard away from a capsized canoe on its way from Honolulu to Tahiti. This issue is in very good or Betty-plus condition, about 85 percent of mint. Light cover and spine wear with no pulling at staples. No torn or missing pages and no cutouts.
