INTERNATIONAL SURFING VOLUME 1, NO. 3 (1965)

Phil Edwards and Don (Doug?) Haut ride Waimea Bay in this epic cover shot from 1965. Top surfers of the era report back on the North Shore's winter surf. Articles by Dewey Weber, Peter Cole, Butch Van Artsdalen, Fred Van Dyke, and Mike Stange, along with great early shots of Haleiwa, Pipeline, Laniakea, Sunset Beach, and more. Also includes "Surfing Girl of the Month," "The Unkown Beach" -- a fictional piece by Bob Lewis -- a New Zealand travel feature, a Kealoha Kaio profile by Dick Graham, a Cronulla Point pictorial, and coverage of the Makaha International Surfing Contest. This is rare issue in remarkably good condition. We call it a Betty-plus, about 85 percent of mint. Very light cover and spine wear with one small ding at bottom edge that affects front cover and first few pages. No pulling at staples. Radiant color with supple pages. Minor water stain at top edge of back cover has slightly rippled the last few pages. No torn or missing pages and no cutouts. We have a second copy of this issue in slightly lesser condition, about 75 percent of mint. Packaged in an archival-quality clear plastic sleeve with an acid-free mat backing board.
