SURFER MAGAZINE VOLUME 25, NO. 4 (1984)

Longtime North Shore Lifeguard Darrick Doerner pulls into a big, round barrel at inside Sunset. Darrick was kind enough to stop by Surfwarez during a recent visit to the Monterey Peninsula. It was a once-in-a-lifetime experience to meet such an accomplished big wave rider in person! This special all-Hawaii issue doesn't disappoint. The winter of 1983/84 was the first year since the world professional circuit was established that the world title wasn't decided in Hawaiian waters. The regulars didn't seem to mind a bit. Standouts include Hawaiians Michael Ho, Bird Mahelona, Buttons Kaluhiokalani, and Max Medeiros. Also includes "Locals Only: Ten Top Talents Take Their Turn" and "North Shore Design Developments: A Shaper's Perspective." This issue is in very good or Betty condition, at least 80 percent of mint. Very light cover and spine wear with no pulling at staples. No torn or missing pages and no cutouts. Packaged in an archival-quality clear plastic sleeve with an acid-free mat backing board.
