Vintage Collectibles - Magazines - Surfer Magazine - 1980's

I actually owned a board back in the 80s with a color scheme like John Damm's board shown here. I'm surprised I'm still around to laugh about it! Content includes a republished interview with Duke Kahanamoku, the father of modern surfing. Plus "Surf Resorts: Pay to Play" and a "Power Plays" pictorial, featuring the likes of Willy Morris, Michael Ho, and the late Mark Foo, among others. Then take in an interview with Shaun Tomson and Tom Carroll, in the midst of a pitched battle for the world title. Also includes coverage of the 1984 Offshore Pipeline Masters and "East Coasters in Hawaii," including Matt Kechele, Wes Laine, Charlie Kuhn, and Jeff Crawford. Finally, Alec Cooke (a.k.a. "Ace Cool") tackles huge outer reef Pipeline with the aid of a helicopter. This issue is in good or Betty-minus condition, about 75 percent of mint. One vertical crease near right edge as shown in scan. Otherwise light cover and spine wear with no pulling at staples. No torn or missing pages and no cutouts. Packaged in an archival-quality clear plastic sleeve with an acid-free mat backing board. We have a second copy of this issue in comparable condition. Click Here for a closer look.
