JIM FRABEE PENCIL SKETCH (1966)

The Murphy influence is clearly visible in this 1966 pencil drawing by Jim Frabee. Check out this surfer's classic Murphy haircut, the Iron Cross he's wearing, his hippie-floral print pants, and his Hurachi sandals. Looks like Jim had already predicted the shortboard revolution with this guy's surfboard, too! This piece is in good to very good condition, about 75 to 80 percent of mint. Some yellowing has occurred as shown in scan. Edges of paper (not shown in scan) are chipped with some minor insect damage. Image area is perfect, except for right edge of wave in background. This is a great original piece of surfing folk art suitable for matting and framing...It turned 40 years old last year! Please note that scan is a partial scan, cropped to image area. The approximate actual size of this piece is 8 1/2 inches wide by 11 inches tall. Packaged in an archival-quality clear plastic sleeve with an acid-free mat backing board.
