NATIONAL GEOGRAPHIC SEPTEMBER 1944

This classic issue of National Geographic includes an eight-page pictorial by J.H. "Doc" Ball featuring some of the first California water shots ever published. The captions offer a tidy history of California surfing and an introduction to surf lingo for the masses. This issue also features a water shot of Tom Blake (shower cap and all!) sharing a wave with his "World Champion Dog Surfer, Rusty."

Binding is frayed and cover is soiled slightly as shown in scan. Spine is starting to split at top edge. Moderate cover and spine wear overall. Complete and intact with no torn or missing pages and no cutouts. No water stains or moisture damage of any kind.

Packaged in an archival-quality clear plastic sleeve with an acid-free mat backing board. Measures 10 inches by 6 3/4 inches.
