MODERN PHOTOGRAPHY (MAY 1950)

This 56-year-old issue of Modern Photography features a unique look at early surf photography, written by John H. ("Doc") Ball. Doc walks the reader through construction of a "waterbox," a primitive but functional precursor to today's waterproof housings. Doc includes helpful information for would-be water photographers: "The most exciting shots are made as the rider comes down the angle and out of a veritable tunnel formed by the breaking crest behind him. A close up of a rider steaming out of this tunnel is not only dangerous but hard to get as well." While the spine shows some signs of light wear, this magazine is in very good condition overall. Complete and intact with no torn or missing pages and no cutouts. Sealed in an archival-quality clear plastic sleeve with an acid-free mat backing board. Measures approximately 8 1/2 inches by 11 1/2 inches. Click Here for a closer look.
