SURFING ACTION VOLUME 1, NO. 1 (1968)

Petersen Publishing decided to make another go at it with this magazine, according to Tim DeLaVega, author of the Surfing Collectibles Guide. Editor Richard Graham started off with America's first shortboard cover and this magazine covered quite a bit of the new counter culture movement. Sadly, the magazine barely made in into the 70s before Petersen finally gave up in 1972. Content includes a Midget Farrelly profile, a North Shore pictorial, a Fiji travel feature, and a Don James portfolio feturing some epic early water shots from Sunset and Waimea. Also an Australia pictorial and a Joey Cabell feature. This copy is in good or Betty-minus condition, about 70 to 75 percent of mint. Split spine with cover barely attached at top staple. Subscription card is intact. No torn or missing pages and no cutouts. Packaged in an archival-quality clear plastic sleeve with an acid-free mat backing board. Click Here for a closer look.
