SURFER MAGAZINE VOLUME 17, NO. 2 (1976)

This classic cover features previously unseen "Inside-Out Tube Views." Most people assume it's Gerry Lopez inside the tube, but it's actually a young Jackie Dunn. A lengthy portfolio by Steve Wilkings begins on page 74. He uses a board-mounted camera and a remote control to give a surfer's eye view of a Pipeline tube ride. Gerry Lopez and Rory Russell get their turn, too. Also includes a guest editorial by Fred Van Dyke and a lengthy Malibu feature with photos from the 1940s and '50s. Plus "California: Beneath the Mainstream" and "Flotsam and Jet Skis," which offers some alternative forms of waveriding. Finally, "Aftermath Winter 1976: Attitude Dancing" by Gerry Lopez, with photos by Jeff Divine and Steve Wilkings. This magazine is in very good or Betty condition, at least 80 percent of mint. Minor pulling at staples. Otherwise light cover and spine wear. No torn or missing pages and no cutouts. Subscription card is intact. We have a second copy of this issue in slightly lesser condition. Packaged in an archival-quality clear plastic sleeve with an acid-free mat backing board. Click Here for a closer look.
