SURFER MAGAZINE VOLUME 28, NO. 1 (1987)

This shot of Derek Ho taken in the middle of July is actually an off-season west swell at Sunset Beach, not the South Shore like you'd expect. Content includes "How to Beat the Mid-Winter Blues," providing a few travel options for those bored with their home breaks. Alternatives include Latin America, the Caribbean, and Hawaii, of course. Not surprisingly, world champion Tom Curren wins the SURFER Poll Awards for the second consecutive year. Frieda Zamba wins her second straight as well. Also includes a Craig Fineman portfolio, a Malibu pictorial, and "The Young Americans West." Also includes coverage of the 1986 Op Pro at Huntington, marred by the ugliest riot in surf contest history. This magazine is in very good or Betty condition, about 80 percent of mint. One vertical scratch on front cover as shown in scan. Otherwise very light cover and spine wear with no pulling at staples. No torn or missing pages and no cutouts. Packaged in an archival-quality clear plastic sleeve with an acid-free mat backing board. Click Here for a closer look.
