Vintage Collectibles - Magazines - Surfer Magazine - 1980's

Day-glo colors are not here to stay, fortunately. They do make for color-coordinated covers, though. Content includes coverage of the 1989 Cold Water Classic, with its annual "cold water curse." This year was no exception, with Martin Potter winning in marginal conditions by Steamer Lane standards. Also includes "Post Modern Surf Femme," a lengthy feature on the state of women's professional surfing. A "Crawling from the Wreckage" pictorial chronicles one of the most "cut-rate, low-energy" winters on record. "Echoes" includes words and portraits by Matt George. Plus Cape Hatteras action and "Head Rush: Rick Doyle's North Shore Helmet-Cam Experiments." Also includes a Jack McCoy portfolio and a Marty Thomas profile. This issue is in very good or Betty-plus condition, about 85 percent of mint. Very light cover and spine wear. No torn or missing pages and no cutouts. Packaged in an archival-quality clear plastic sleeve with an acid-free mat backing board. Click Here for a closer look.
