With what is perhaps one of the first covers ever featuring a female surfer, this Surf Guide has become a valuable part of women's surfing history. Linda Benson was surfing Sunset Beach at just 15 years old, then went on to win the U.S. Championships in Huntington Beach for the third time in 1961. Her charming interview is featured here.
Other features include south swell action at Windansea, Australia travel feature, "Surfing the Golden Gate," and summertime Yokahama Bay barrels.
"One can't ask much more from surfing than this...perfect trim on a perfect wave. Squatting parallel...reaching and driving, he speeds beneath the crackling concave wall above."
